We are pleased to announce new principals at eight JPS schools for the 2025-2026 school year. They all bring years of experience and outstanding accomplishments to the schools they will serve in the new year.
Children ages 18 and younger will be able to have breakfast and lunch meals at no cost throughout the month of June. The program will be offered at 12 JPS schools.
Jackson Public Schools honors the more than 60 beloved members of the JPS family who will be parting through retirement by the end of the school year. While they will be missed, we wish them well in their future endeavors.

March 5, 2025 - Cadet Captain Ashanti Odom of Callaway High School was selected as the JPS 2025-2026 Cadet of the Year. After a lengthy application process by a committee of education professionals, she was chosen on February 26 at an award ceremony at the Mississippi eCenter.
February 26, 2025 - In a celebration of dedication, compassion, and the power of guidance, Jackson Public Schools (JPS) honored its 75 remarkable school counselors during the 2025 Counselor of the Year Annual Awards on Friday, February 7, 2025.
February 11, 2025 - Eight outstanding scholars from Wells Academic and Performing Arts Complex (APAC) have been officially inducted into the prestigious National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS).

December 13, 2024 - Renna Moore-Edwards, Visual Arts teacher and department chair at Ida B. Wells APAC, has been awarded a classroom grant from Mississippi Professional Educators.

December 4, 2024 - On Thursday, November 14, 2024, the Jackson Public Schools Joy Parent Cruise welcomed over 500 attendees to the Mississippi e-Center at Jackson State University.
November 21, 2024 – Dozens of Jackson Public School (JPS) scholars were all smiles after winning the district's annual Reading Fair, held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Cardozo Middle School. This year's theme was "Young and Gifted: Unlocking the Magic of Books."
